The morning we met with Leigh’s family was *supposed* to be sunny, warm, and with beautiful fall colors. What we got, though, was gray, cold, and muddy. With schedules already arranged, and no guarantee of what a later date might bring, we opted for something inside.
Keeping in theme with the autumn tones, we worked along the brick wall for most of our time. We love everyone’s great smiles, and natural grasses plus an old barn door add some gorgeous texture. In black and plum colors, everyone looks fantastic. They fit together as a team, but there are pops of personality in each outfit. Each daughter is cute as ever in their breakout portraits, too!
We also played on the bright white wall, and we love how this fun black and white looks as a canvas wrap. It’s a little more playful as everyone squeezes in tight, and we love how different it is from their main portrait on the brick.
It wasn’t the portrait session we had envisioned in the days leading up, but we love it all the same. It isn’t the setting or the sunshine that makes a portrait. It’s being around those who you love most and who loves you. Portraits are about celebrating where you’ve been and where you’re going and who is going with you. At the end of the day, we know that’s what matters most.
