In those fleeting days between the seasons where the last bit of summer clings to the trees while the colors of autumn work their way outward, we met Rick and Shellie. On a gorgeous property to the west of Billings, we toured over pathways, bridges, and alongside a small canal, getting a full view of their beautiful home.
After having lived in nearly every corner of the country, this spot is where they feel most at home. Bode and Bella (the pups) made it in for portraits too, and they sat so well with their owners (with a few treats just off camera as motivation) in the cut grass near the house.
Rick and Shellie’s favorite place is under the enormous tree in the little meadow away from the house, and their portrait captures a sweet moment between the two (and their pups!). The tree provides a natural vignette, drawing the eye back to them, and tall grasses provide depth and texture. The colors of fall have begun to take over the tree while a bit of green clings to the lower branches.
The Shaws will spend their winter in Arizona, thawing out from the Montana cold. These portraits are a sweet little reminder of their piece of heaven on earth.
