When Mark and Tamie secured their dream spot near Las Vegas, they knew a family portrait would turn a house into their home. They keep a base in Billings, so the tall grasses of a Montana summer made the perfect settings. During our time with them, however, it became clear that we’d have some uninvited guests joining: mosquitos. Bravely facing swarms of the little bugs (and in full July heat), Mark, Tamie, and their son Cody worked through several locations around the riverside.
We particularly love the casualness in their main portrait as they lean up against an old tree. Clark’s artistic expression along the border helps draw the eye back into the center where Tamie is surrounded by the two most important men in her life. On the pathways, they stand out in blue, mimicking the sky that peeks between the trees.
Once these images are hung in their new home, no doubt they’ll bring a little bit of Montana into the southwest.
